It was established as an agro-processing cluster focused on growing, pulping and drying mango. The initiative was demand-driven from the start, based on a thorough analysis of market opportunities and contacts with domestic and foreign buyers. The project had a systemic approach, targeting skills improvements and innovations across the whole value chain, rather than focusing on an isolated technology/product. Managed and facilitated by Chrisma Bredenkamp with excellent leadership and facilitating skills who managed to establish trust among the cluster members and transfer skills on a continuous basis. The project employed 200 women and was designed to take into account specific traditions and culture mix of the local community and bridge any differences through effective and fair management. The project applied “fair trade” principles to the purchasing process and prices.
The Mozambique Agropark is a comprehensive agricultural development initiative designed to enhance food security and economic growth in the region. This large-scale project focuses on sustainable crop production, agro-processing, and community development, utilizing advanced farming techniques and modern infrastructure. The Agropark integrates local farmers into the supply chain, providing them with access to training, resources, and markets. By fostering innovation and improving productivity across the agricultural value chain, the project not only boosts local economies but also contributes to regional stability and food self-sufficiency. The initiative is committed to sustainable practices and aims to empower communities through job creation, skill development, and environmentally responsible farming.
